Duke of Portland (1807-09) - Prime Minister - Parliament

William Cavendish Bentinck was born in 1738 as the eldest son of the second Duke of Portland. He took over after Grenville resigned until his dying days in 1809.

Portland to King George III:
"I will do the best I can to serve you to my life's end".

Portland on accepting office for the second time:
"My fears are not that the attempt to perform this duty will shorten my life, but that I shall neither bodily nor mentally perform it as I should"
