When it comes to stately homes and magnificent gardens

include Highclere Castle, Cliveden, Stonor Park and
Stratfield Save.
Other houses of interest include Basildon Park (National
Trust) and Mapledurham House and Gardens which also
has a working water mill.
Magnificent gardens can be found at Sir Harold Hillier
Garden and Arboretum, at Ampfield and Savhill Gardens.
Which are in a 35 acre park within Windsor Great Park.
The town of Reading is also a great place to explore
with its formal garden, The Forbury found in the town
centre, 400 acres of parkland, play areas and meadows
by the river.
Family Enjoyment
A top attraction for all the family is the Legoland

it is easy to get to and some hotels in the area have
special packages based on pre-booked visits. For something

Royal History
For those that didn’t know Reading is actually
the burial place of a King Of England. Henry I, son
of William the Conquerer. Who founded the Abbey in Reading
in1121 and was buried in 1136 here.
The Abbey and the town continued with the relationship
with crown until Herny VIII in 1539 abandoned the Abbey.
The Abbey’s ruin remain today but they remind
us of the affairs of state that happened at that time.
It’s still worth taking a visit to the Abbey.
To find out about Reading in the past The Museum of
Reading is a great place and is the home of the Silchester
Collection of Roman antiques and the only full scale
copy of the Bayeux Tapestry in the world.
As County Town Of Royal Berkshire you are not far from
finding somewhere to visit with Windsor Great Park,
