Peebleshire is a county in Scotland bounded on the north by Midlothian,
on the east by Selkirkshire, on the south by Dumfriesshire,
and on the west by Lanarkshire. Its area is 348 square
miles.
The county lies in the southern uplands of Scotland
and has a hilly surface culminating in the southeast
in Broad Law at 2766 feet. It is drained by the Tweed
and its tributaries.
The antiquities of the county include a number of Roman
hill forts, a fine Roman camp at Lyne, and the ruined
castles of Neidpath and Drochil.
