Argyllshire is a maritime
county of western Scotland, 155 miles in length but
with a coastline of 2290 miles. Its area is 3165 square
miles.
It is mountainous, the scenery of these sections possessing
a wild grandeur. In the south the climate is mild, but
in the north it is severe and the peaks are always snow-capped.
The county is noted for its whiskey distilleries at
Campbel town and Islay. Inveraray is its chief city.
