Rutland - Hotels - England
Rutland
is the smallest county in England, and is mentioned
in the Doomsday Book in 1086. There is a castle that
was a Norman manor house that has a collection of horse
shoes that were collected from visiting nobility and
also has some of the Royal Family’s. Around this
is the Market Place, Butter Cross and Stocks with many
small shops that sell high quality goods.
There are plenty of things to
do in Rutland. For those who like water sports you should
make your way to Rutland Water here you can go canoeing,
rowing or paddling in the sheltered creek and harbour
at Whitewell. There is also the chance to sailboard
or boat strike across the reservoir. Along with cycling
and walking around the water or fishing.
Rutland also has pretty villages
for you to discover. All with there own character and
charm. Exton has thatched cottages and Clipsham has
a topiary walk that has lots of trees shaped into local,
national and international events. And Tickernote church
has an intricately carved Norman arch.
