Hampshire
is a county in the south of England known as the maritime
county is split into the mainland of Southampton and
the Isle of Wight. Hampshire is known as Hants and is
1649 miles square.
The Solent Strait and Spithead
separate the Isle of Wight from the mainland. Rivers
Avon, Test, Anton, Wey, Stour, Itchen and Lymington
are in the Southampton area. Portsmouth Harbour, Christchurch,
Pools Bays and Southampton Water are all little inlets
off of the coast.
In this county the seaside resorts
are Bournemouth, Southsea and Milford. The largest towns
in this county are Southampton, Cowes, on the Isle of
Wight, Portsmouth and Gosport. Hampshire also has its
own military training camp at Aldershot and Sandhurst
is only a few miles north known for its military college.
The major towns that are in this
county are Basingstoke and Newport.
