The best way to get around: By foot.
How to get there: By road – accessible by the
A6, A50, A38 and A52, just 15 minutes from M1 junction
24 or 25. By rail – just 1 hour 40 minutes from
London. By air – 20 minutes drive from East Midlands
Airport, 50 minutes from Birmingham International and
90 minutes from Manchester Airport.
New this year: The £1 million Cathedral Visitor
Centre opens in September opposite Derby Cathedral.
Attractions: Derby Cathedral, Derby Industrial Museum,
Derby Central Museum and Art Gallery, Pickford’s
House Museum, Royal Crown Derby Visitor Centre and Factory
Shop. Nearby Matlock Bath and Buxton (spa towns) Chatsworth
House (open between Easter and Christmas) and Donington
Grand Prix Collection.

Near the Derby Industrial Museum Close to Derby Cathedral
Shops: Unique boutiques and designer labels can be found
along Sadler Gate and Iron Gate. High street shops can
be found in the St Peter’s Street area and the
Eagle Centre. The Market Place houses a Farmers Market
every 3rd Thursday of the month.
Architecture: Derby is crammed with fine Victorian and
Georgian buildings. Head to Pickford’s House,
for a fantastic example of Georgian architecture.
Parks: There are a number or parks in and around the
city centre including the Arboretum, Markeaton Park,
Allestree Park, Darley Park and Alvaston Park. The Peak
District National Park can be easily accessed from Derby.
