Career
highlights
Having won 19 caps at Under-21
level, many of them as captain,
it was only a matter of time before
making the step up to senior level.
As part of a talented midfield
alongside other young West Ham
protegees Michael Carrick and
Joe Cole, Frank's outstanding
performances as a hard-working
attacking midfielder led to an
£11m move to Chelsea in
the summer of 2001 after more
than 130 Premiership matches and
23, often spectacular, goals at
West Ham.
One of a clutch of talented players
who have graduated from West Ham's
youth team, Frank, son of a former
England International, made his
debut in the friendly against
Belgium at the Stadium of Light
in 1999 (won 2-1). His second
appearance was as a substitute
at Villa Park in February 2001
in the friendly against Spain.
