Career
highlights
David has already won five League
Championships, two F.A. Cups and
one European Cup with Manchester
United and was voted 2nd in the
World Player of the Year awards
last year behind Luis Figo.
England's current captain was
first capped in Glenn Hoddle's
first match as Head Coach, a World
Cup qualifier against Moldova
in Chisinau in 1996 (won 3-0).
He has scored seven goals, often
at crucial stages and none more
so than his stunning injury-time
free-kick at Old Trafford in October
that took England through to the
World Cup Finals.
With more
than 50 caps already to his name,
Beckham is an integral part of
England's exciting young midfield,
whose astonishing work-rate and
lethal crossing ability played
a huge role in England's World
Cup qualifying campaign. Although
London-born, his ambition was
always to play for Manchester
United and he graduated from the
youth squad alongside Ryan Giggs,
Paul Scholes and the Neville brothers
to sign professional forms in
1993.
He quickly
made his mark as a stunning new
talent in the Manchester United
side, never more so when he scored
an incredible goal from the half-way
line in a Premiership match against
Wimbledon. |
