AC Milan

AC Milan was formed on 16th December 1899 in a hotel, called the Hotel du Nord by a group of fans. This made the sports club but it had already existed in the form of the Milan Football and Cricket Club. And its first headquarters were in the Wineshop at Via Berchet in Milan. Over the past years AC Milan has become the strongest and the most popular club in the world.

The club authorative people have a made a mark on Milan club as Alfred Edwards, the English founder who two years after the club formed won the first Italian Champion title, and all the way up to Silvio Berlusconi who was president when he won more trophies than anyone else.

AC Milan owes its success to the great coaches like Gipo Viani, Nereo Rocco and Nils Liedholm who were the gurus of the Sixties. After them followed the more great coaches such as Arrigo Sacchi and Fabio Capello who relied on their good tactics and strategies on the more modern and exciting football.

For it was Sacchi at the time of Berlusconi who won in four seasons a league championship title, the European Champion’s Clubs’ Cup twice, the European Supercup twice and the Intercontinental Cup two times in a row. With Capello he won four league championship titles, a European Supercup and a European Champion Clubs' Cup in five years.

Today, even though the current coach Carlo Ancelotti who carries on the line of excellent coaches under the Berlusconi’s ere, Alberto Zaccheroni in his two years at the club brought the club to win the most recent and excellent league championship title.

With the thanks of its great players Milan has become a winning team in Italy and throughout the world. These great players were Gunnar Gren, Gunnar Nordhal, Nils Liedholm (the mythical Swedish "Gre-No-Li" trio), Juan Alberto Schiaffino, and José Altafini who were envied by all the teams in the world.

Milan was the best when Gianni Rivera was the best Italian football along with the players like Anquiletti, Trapattoni, Lodetti, Sormani and Prati. And Rivera’s name is linked with another great player when he won the star’s league championship, the talented player was called Franco Baresi who took over from him, later become the symbol and flag of the record-holder of Milan for twenty years, who greatly warrants the title of "Milan's Player of the Century" in a public survey.

It was this Milan team that are remembered as the unbeatable team. As the captain Baresi had the extraordinary players of Dutch trio of Marco Van Basten, Ruud Gullit, Frank Rijkaard, Montenegro, Dejan Savicevic, George Weah, Zvonimir Boban, and Marcel Desailly.

At this time the club could also rely on the many other great players’ contributions of Italian champions like Carlo Ancelotti, Paolo Maldini, Mauro Tassotti, Daniele Massaro, Alessandro Costacurta, Alberigo Evani, Roberto Donadoni, Filippo Galli, Demetrio Albertini, Roberto Baggio, and Sebastiano Rossi.

And those that are still playing at the top levels such as Massimo Ambrosini, Christian Abbiati, Serginho, Gennaro Ivan Gattuso, Andriy Shevchenko, Manuel Rui Costa and Filippo Inzaghi Alessandro Nesta and Rivaldo.

As it was these players that gave the club its wonderful style, charm and the winning attitude from the technical staff and from the players themselves.

The team presents itself to its fans with a hundred years football tradition and constant commitment and high professional skills on the pitch and off it.
