VfB Stuttgart

VfB Stuttgart was formed on 9th September 1893. And in 1935 the club were runners up in the German Championship.

In the 1950s the Club had a good run of form as they won the German Champions in 1950 and 1952 but were runners the following year of 1953. 1954 and 1958 the club won the German Cup.

During the 1960s this good run of form declined even though they were the German Amateur Champions in 1963. And in the 1970s they were the runners up of the German Championship in 1979 but they were the German under 19 champion in 1973 and 1975.

In the 1980s the club had a good run of form as they were the German Amateur Champions in 1980, the German under 19 champions in 1981, 1984, 1988 and 1989. They were also the German under 16 champions in 1986. The club also won the titles of German Champions in 1984 and German Cup finalists in 1986 and European Cup finalists in 1989 as well.

The clubs great form continued as they won the titles of German under 19 champions in 1990 and retaining this title the following year, German champions and German Supercup winners in 1992, the club was the German under 16 champions in 1994 and retained it the following year. VFB Stuttgart were also the German cup winners of 1997, European Cup finalists of 1998 and 1999 saw them be the German under 16 champions

Most recently the club are the German under 19 champions of 2003.

VfB Stuttgart play at the Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadion, which has the capacity of 54,267; all roofed it holds 48,207. The stadium was built in 1933 for the German Gymnastics festival and in 1993 the stadium was called The Neckarstadion and was renamed Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadion Stuttgart.

The star players for VfB Stuttgart are Silvio Meibner, Heiko Gerber, Alexander Hleb, Zvonimir Soldo, Michael Mutzel, Horst Heldt, Jurica Vranjes, Ioannis Amanantidis and Ferando Meira.

The club hopes to finish within the top three or within the top ten of the Bundesliga and to qualify for next seasons UEFA Champions League so that the club can progress further in the tournament.
