Nationwide Division
One Football
Ipswich town were in the English Third Division
in the 1938-39 season where they stayed for
nine seasons. Then at the end of the 1953-54
season the club gained promotion into the English
Second Division, but this didn’t last
long as they were then relegated back to the
English Third Division for the start of the
1955-56 season.
After staying in this division the following
season thy were rewarded with gaining promotion
to the English Second Division for the start
of the 1957-58 season.
From 1957-58 Ipswich town were in the English
Second Division here they stayed for the following
three seasons. After a good season in 1960-61
they earn a place in the English First Division,
where they stayed until 1964-65 when they went
back to the English Second Division.
Ipswich Town then had a good run of form in
the English Second Division as the club was
rewarded with the place in the English First
Division in 1968-69 and remained in here until
1982-83 when they went into the Canon First
Division for three seasons.
Here they had a spell of bad form as they were
in the Barclays Second Division from 1987-88
to 1991-92 when they won promotion to the clubs
highest point of being in the FA Carling Premiership.
From 1992-93 Ipswich was in the FA Carling Premiership
for three seasons. But in 1994-95 they were
relegated to the Nationwide Division One. They
then spend time going to and from the FA Carling
Premiership. But now from 2002-03 Ipswich are
now settled in the Nationwide Division One where
they are spending this season as well.
Ipswich Town play their football at Portman
Road which has a capacity of 30,000.
The star players at Ipswich Town are Counago,
Bent, Naylor, Miller, Kuqi, Wright, Bart-Williams,
Westlake, Armstrong, Magilton, Santos, Mahon,
Bowditch, Bent and Richards.
Ipswich Town hope to finish the season within
the top five. With the aim of featuring in the
play-offs and titles this season.
