Another
West Indian who opted not to play in the Caribbean
and was consequently dropped from the Windies
side. McLean used his time away from the national
side to play Cricket in South Africa where he
turned out for the Durban based kwaZulu-Natal
Dolphins.
In
2001/02 he was instrumental in bowling them
to the SuperSport and Standard Bank trophies
and in 202/03 he filled in as skipper on several
occasions.
McLean
has matured into a fine bowler and like Vasbert
Drakes his knowledge of South African conditions
is going to be vital to the Windies.
