Player Profile

Indians say Sachin Tendulkar is the best. Aussies say it's Matty Hayden. Objective outsiders will say that without a doubt Brian Lara is the greatest batsmen in the world today.

Lara, who holds the record for the highest Test score ever made, is a phenomenal player, capable of destroying any bowling attack at will. Although he has the ability to play shots all around the wicket and to manufacture runs out of nothing Lara is something of an enigma, often getting himself out trying to be too audacious.

He is a fine slip fielder and although he has been worried by injury and illness in recent times, his return to the Windies side will give the Caribbean boys a new sense of confidence - as long as he doesn't prove a disruptive influence, something he has been accused of doing in the past.
