Local Team: KwaZulu-Natal
Bat: Left Hand Bat
Ball: Right arm fast/medium
Born: 4 September 1971

Player Profile

Lance Klusener is the player of the tournament for the 1999 World Cup. In that competition and for two years thereafter, Klusener was a force with which to be reckoned in either batting or bowling. He gained a reputation as the world's most brutal "finisher." He was a batsman able to hit boundaries seemingly at will and terrorised bowlers with his heavy, crushing blade.

While Klusener has added much to his array of bowling tricks, his batting has tailed off remarkably in the last year. While his reputation recommended him a place in SA's squad, his form did not. His potential for devastation with the bat may be well remembered, it is more likely that he will contribute with the ball in this World Cup.
