Dravid,
who was once criticised for being too slow a
batsman for the one-day game, has developed
into a significant member of the middle-order.
His technical correctness is his main strength
and he has the ability to concentrate for long
periods of time.
Dravid
recorded the highest aggregate in the 1999 World
Cup in England and is one of the few Indian
batsmen who can truthfully be said to adapt
to foreign pitch conditions with any regularity.
The
right-hander will fill a dual role in this year's
tournament as he continues to don the gloves
behind the stumps to allow the selectors to
pick an extra batsman. His ability with the
gloves is admittedly average but he will no
doubt have done a great deal of work on this
aspect of his game ahead of the World Cup.
