Kumble
is a tall leg-spinner who does not extract a
great deal of turn, relying instead on subtle
variations of pace and flight. He has been highly
successful with a combination of top-spinners,
flat leg-spinners and the odd googly.
An
experienced campaigner for India, Kumble's height
and subsequent bounce will be a factor on the
hard wickets of South Africa. He is by no means
a monkey with the bat either and while not sporting
a terrific strike-rate, he can nevertheless
hold up an end.
Kumble boasts the feat of being only the second
bowler in Test history to claim all ten wickets
in an innings. |
