Along
with Steve Waugh and Shane Warne, McGrath is
one of the key features behind Australian crickets
rise to the top.
On
the surface he is nothing impressive - he is
not the fastest, he is not the most intimidating
and he doesn’t have the best bouncer… He is
however one of the highest ranked bowler in
the world. The key for McGrath has always been
his nagging line and length, his ability to
move the ball both ways off the seam and an
uncanny ability to keep things tight for extended
periods. Given that he is able to do this without
sacrificing any pace mean he is always amongst
the wickets.
Although
he is probably past his prime McGrath nevertheless
continues spearhead the Australian attack and
he goes into the CWC with hundreds of wickets
in the bank. Injury is all that stands between
his aging body and another big bag full of wickets. |
