| ST JOHN’S LODGE
This residence is owned by the Sultan of Brunei and
has the estimated value £110 million. It is situated
in Regent’s Park, London.
The Sultan of Brunei owns the second most elegant residence
in the UK which is not surprising as he has been regarded
as one of the richest men in the world. He didn’t
own his property for long when the Sultan’s younger
brother, playboy Prince Jefri Bolkiah when he broke
the record for buying St John’s Lodge for £40
million, this meant at the time a most expensive property
sold in the UK. This record was closely matched by the
Old Rectory in Chelsea but was then beaten by the London
home of Bernie Ecclestone.
It is set in a wonderful
location with two totally secluded acres in the centre
of the largest and beautiful park in London. St John’s
Lodge was built around 1818 and is not very large but
it in the early 1990s it was extended to double its
size.
Today, the main and the second house are used by guests
and staff and have a 35,00 sq ft living space. This
shows off the character of the residence with intricate
murals in the main rooms.
When Prince Jefri got into financial difficulties, he
had to hand over much of his assets including St John’s
Lodge, to his brother, Sultan of Brunei, even though
he is doubted to of even gone to visit the property.
