Stephen Parry ended an eight year wait for an Olympic swimming medal in the men’s 200m butterfly.

27 year old Parry dug deep and broke the Commonwealth record to take bronze.

Michael Phelps won the gold medal by setting a new Olympic record time of 1.54.04 seconds.

Takashi Yamamoto clinched the silver medal for Japan.
