The British pair of Elise Laverick and Sarah Winckless won the bronze medal in the double sculls event.

The pair finished in a time of 7.58 seconds behind New Zealand and Germany.

Peggy Waleska and Britta Oppelt from Germany took the silver medal of 7:02.78, while twins Georgina and Caroline Evers-Swindell from New Zealand took the gold position in s time of 7:01.79.

Miglena Markova and Anet-Jaqueline Buschmann from Bulgaria finished fourth but Markova had to be stretchered away after collapsing after crossing the finishing line, and was taken away for medical treatment.
