Matthew Pinsent made history by claiming his fourth Olympic gold medal by beating the World Champions Canada in the Men’s Coxless Four.

The Team of Pinsent, Ed Cooke, James Cracknell and Steve Williams won in a time of 6 minutes, 0.98 seconds.

The team were put under severe pressure by the Canadians in the final stages of the race, however the British crew hanged on to win by the smallest of margins.
