The British pair of Katherine Grainger and Cath Bishop won the silver medal award in the women’s pair rowing.

For a lot of the race, the world champions of 2003 were in fourth place, they then made a late surge to beat Belarus into third position.

The finished the race in 7:08.66, just a second ahead of the bronze medalists.

The gold medal was won by the defending champions Romania who finished the race in a victory time of 7.06.56.
