David Davies won a bronze medal award for Great Britain in the 1500m freestyle event in Athens .

19 year old Davies smashed both the European as well British records coming in at 14 minutes 45.90 seconds.

Australia’s Grant Hackett regained his Olympic gold medal in a new recording breaking time of 14:43.40 while America ’s Larsen Jensen took the silver medal.

At the 550m point Davies was in second place, however 400m later, Jenson overtook the Brit.

Hackett, Jenson and former world record holder are the only three swimmers to have gone faster over this distance.
