Britain’s second gold medal was won by Chris Hoy in Athens, by breaking an Olympic Record to win in the Men’s 1km cycling time trial event.

Hoy from Scotland went around the track in a recode breaking time of 1.00.711 seconds, and this time was the fastest ever recorded at sea level.

The lset person to go on the track, Hoy managed to eclipse the time of Frenchman of Armaud Tournant’s time of 1.00.896, who had to settle for Silver Medal.

Stefan Nimke from Germany was awarded the bronze medal.
