Alice Christabel Montagu Douglas Scott was born on Christmas
Day, 1901 at Montagu House, London. Alice, Duchess of
Gloucester is the widow of the late Duke of Gloucester,
third son of George V.
Princess
Alice was the third daughter of the seventh Duke of
Buccleuch, who had been a midshipman of the future king
George V.
Lady
Alice was home taught until the age of 12. Where, she
went to school at West Malvern, before returning home
to be presented at Court in 1920 she spent a year in
Paris. Lady Alice greatly enjoys outdoor pursuits, of
which include skiing, she has also been an accomplished
water colourist. Lady Alice also enjoyed travelling,
living for many months in Kenya and also spent time
in India on a visit to her brother.
