Who was He? Association Footballer. Most notably Captained England's World Cup winning team in 1966.

Date and Place of Birth: 12th April 1941 at 43 Waverly Gardens, Barking, Essex.

Family Background: Only child.

Education: Westbury Primary School. Tom Hood High School, Leyton.

Chronology:

Moore began his football playing for a local Saturday morning team - South Park Boys, who were part of the Ilford League. His first honour was as captain of Barking Primary Schools, winning the 'Crisp Shield’; he then progressed to be part of both the Leyton School’s team, and Essex Boy’s team.  A local scout called Jack Turner heard about Moore's talent by his sports master Tom Russell, and sent in a report. “Looked fairly useful, but wouldn't set the world on fire....’ Moore was invited to attend West Ham under their new youth policy.

1956: (August) Signed amateur forms for West Ham United. (October 6th) Debut for West Ham Colts.

1957: (October 2nd) England Youth Team debut.

1958: (May) Signs Professional forms for West Ham United. (September 8th) Debut for West Ham United first team (v Manchester United).

1960: (November 2nd) Debut for England under 23's.

1961: (January 7th) Debut in F.A. Cup (Stoke City).

1962: (May 20th) Debut for England fist team (V Peru).

1963: (May 20th) Captains England for the first time (V Czechoslovakia).

1964: (May 2nd) Captain of West Ham United in the F.A. Cup victory over Preston. Footballer of the Year in May. (September 23rd) Debut European games (v Gantoise, of Belgium).

1966: (July 30th) Captains England to World Cup Final victory over West Germany (4-2 after Extra Time). Wins B.B.C's Sport's Personality of the Year in the Summer.

1967: Awarded O.B.E.

1972: (February 14th) Wins 120th Cap for England (v Scotland).

1973: (February 17th) Exceeds record number of appearances for West Ham set by Jimmy Ruffell of 509. (November 14th) Plays his final game for England (v Italy).

1974: (January 5th) Injured in what is his last ever game for West Ham United first Team (v Hereford in F.A Cup) (March 14th) Transferred to Fulham (£25,000). (March 19th) Fulham debut (v Middlesbrough). (October 8th) Fulham beat West Ham United in League Cup.

1975: (May 3rd) West Ham United beat Fulham in F.A. Cup Final. 1976:  Joins San Antonio Thunder for the summer.

1977: (May 14th)  Final game for Fulham (v Blackburn Rovers).

1978: Joins Seattle Sounders for the summer.

1979-1981: Manager of Oxford City

1983: Coaches Team Eastern Athletic.

1984-1986: Manager of Southend.

1990: Joins Capital Gold Radio as Football Analyst..

1991: (April 22nd) Operation for suspected Cancer of the colon.

1993: (February 15th) Makes Public announcement about his illness.

Marriage:  Tina Dean June 30th 1962. (Divorced January 6th 1986). Stephanie Moore, December 4th 1991 (Her surname was already Moore).

Places of Interest: West Ham United Football Club, London.

Date and Place of Death: Wednesday 24th February 1993.

Age at Death: 52.

Site of Grave: Funeral held on March 2nd 1993 at Putney Vale Crematorium. He was buried in a quiet family ceremony at Putney Vale.
