Because your home is probably your largest investment,
it makes sense to protect it from deteriorating. By
taking care of the exterior surfaces such as the roof,
siding, brick, painted wood surfaces, stucco or concrete,
you can minimize long-term damage from the elements
while also reducing the amount of required maintenance
and costs associated with keeping your home looking
good.
Since 1991, Dur-A-Shield International,
Inc., a Palm Coast, Fla.-based company, has offered
a variety of products for exterior surface restoration
and protection. “You are really adding value to
your home, as well as improving its appearance and helping
to protect your investment,” says company founder
Vincent R. Valles, Sr.
An environmentally safe, water-based,
anti-microbial acrylic co-polymer, Dur-A-Shield forms
a clear protective shield, and restores and protects
asphalt-fiberglass shingles, tile roofs, painted wood
surfaces, brick, concrete, stucco, aluminum siding and
vinyl siding. It also prevents the growth or re-growth
of mold, mildew and fungus -- and resists dirt, moisture,
UV rays and acid rain, and will not crack, peel or discolor.
The product reduces maintenance
and replacement costs, and when applied to roofs, it
helps with energy conservation. Dur-A-Shield products
are thoroughly researched and tested at a leading university
in the area of polymer sciences. “Scientists help
keep us on the cutting-edge of the latest technology
available in the field of exterior surface restoration
and protection,” Valles says.
Dur-A-Shield products carry a
seven-year guarantee, and are available only through
the company’s authorized dealers, who provide
and apply the product. Vinyl ReNu, which restores the
color and brilliance to oxidized and faded vinyl siding,
can be purchased directly from the company or through
Vinyl ReNu’s network of dealers/contractors in
26 states.
Using Vinyl ReNu is about one-fifth
the cost of replacing vinyl siding. One of the country’s
largest manufacturers of vinyl siding is now using this
product, which carries a 10-year guarantee, as an alternative
to replacing siding that has lost its luster.
