Wolverhampton
Wolverhampton is the home
of the famous Banks's Brewery and as such, you
get a high class pint of beer here. It's more
of an industrial town rather than nice country
town, but that means that you get lots of local
colour and the city is teeming with bars, pubs
and clubs.
For some reason, every time
you venture into the city it starts to rain, I
don't know whether this is because god is trying
to convince me that skipping lectures isn't a
good idea, or whether it just always rains in
Wolves. You do get an excellent calibre of ale
though to warm you up once you've got out of the
rain, in fact, many of the local pubs have got
awards from CAMRA, the campaign for real ale,
which says a lot.
Really, there isn't a lack
of anything to do here, the clubs are quite cool,
albeit slightly cheesy, and there are museums
and theatres, but most of the local populace spend
most of their free time in the pub. There are
so many pubs that you don't know which to go into,
although you can bet that your local is extremely
serviceable and stumbling distance from home.
There's a good array of curries and other dishes
as well, and all for a decent price.
In addition, the university
has a very active students union with excellent
music nights and great bars.
