Nottingham is really cosmopolitan and has quite a cultural history. The Old Market Square bang in the middle is a popular meeting place especially in the summer when the fountains are switched on. Some of the best pubs are The Trip To Jerusalem, which is at the bottom of Castle Rock and is very Olde Worlde, The Bell Inn (more Olde Worlde) and The Royal Children (old). And if you can then definitely pay a visit to Goose Fair in October - a massive event in the local calendar and pretty impressive too!
