Canterbury
Canterbury is possibly the
most pleasant place to be on a Sunday afternoon.
After a fantastic greasy spoon breakfast at Julie's
café, you can get yourself down to any
one of the number of small cosy pubs and settle
down to some good mid-afternoon drinking. But
laying aside the booze and clubbing, Canterbury
is also a beautiful town, with the lovely cathedral
and walled city and little streams and ponds.
The Quintessential little Southern England town.
If there is a problem, it's
that late night drinking is hard to find, the
council tend to clamp down on anything too noisy
and the locals tend to be a little uppity with
regards to the students. But if you ignore them
(which isn't that hard to do) you can have a good
time in the cool pubs away from the university
in Simple Simon's or the Biz, or Club Airlock.
For students, the best places
to go during the week are on the University Campus
really, as traipsing up the huge hill back to
campus after a hard day's night is quite a tricky
thing to do, especially if you're a heavy smoker.
