Belfast
Northern Ireland isn't always
everyone's first choice when going to University
and certainly it's not the most obvious place
to chose to go. Most people chose to study somewhere
near home and that's sensible because, if you
need some laundry done or a good Sunday Roast,
you don't want to have to travel hundreds of miles
to get there.
For me, however, coming
from Surrey, Belfast was my first choice - not
only because the University is great and the course
that I'm doing is world class, but because Belfast
is such a top city to live in. You know how they
say that the Irish are the most friendly people
in the world - well, although the men tend to
get slightly over-friendly on a Friday night,
I can concur.
Really, ironically perhaps,
Belfast is one of the safest places that I've
been - I have no problems walking down the street
at night, and I don't know anyone that's been
mugged of caught up in a fight (besides a little
bit of friendly fisticuffs outside the pub).
I'm going to sound like
a tourist brochure here, but who cares….
"Come to Belfast! - It's Brilliant!".
There's a lot to do party-wise, sports-wise and
entertainment-wise - the university is great,
the people are friendly and well, everything.
