Aberdeen
Aberdeen is about 100 miles
from Edinburgh and over 400miles from London,
so you'd be excused in thinking that it's in the
middle of nowhere. However, Aberdeen is a vibrant
city with loads to do on the social side of things.
There are great pubs, clubs, shops and bars, as
well as good cinemas and theatres, and mixed in
is the famous sense of Scottish hospitality.
You can have a great night
out in the Ellicit Still, and student-friendly
pub, and as for clubbing, most students recommend
Amadeus at the Beach, which has a free bus for
us poor students.
The local Aberdonians are
quite friendly towards students as many of them
provide services for the large student population,
but just be careful not to go into a "local's
pub" if you're English.
In addition, Aberdeen is
right on the sea, and although it's way too cold
to go swimming unless you're Russian or Scottish,
it can be great fun for picnics in the wind, or
some great beach parties when the weather hots
up a bit. It is rumoured that Eric Cantona practises
his beach football skills there as well - although
it is just a rumour.
