During their
time overseas, most BUNAC participants are employed
in a variety of temporary positions, often in
hospitality and tourism related areas. Although
in the majority of cases, they would be doing
a similar job back home, participants are earning
money to finance their trip and gaining valuable
work skills to add to their CV. It also gives
young people a chance to develop transferable
skills such as confidence and self-motivation,
a broader outlook on life and a wider view of
the world as a whole.
Taking part in a BUNAC programme also provides
a talking point for potential employers once back
in the UK.

Want
to travel in Africa?
Interested in making a genuine contribution to
the fight against AIDS in the developing world?
Like football?
Then read onÉ..
TackleAfrica
is a non-profit organisation that has been set
up to use football matches as a tool for increasing
the awareness and understanding of HIV/AIDS in
African communities. We are currently planning
a project to run for 6 months from September 2003,
travelling from London to Dar es Salaam and playing
30 football matches in 12 different countries.
Each match will be the focal point in dedicated
HIV/AIDS awareness days that will be run in conjunction
with local NGOs.
In
order to carry out the project we need to put
together a dedicated and hardworking team of 20
players. In order to ensure that the maximum benefit
is derived from the project we require everyone
taking part in the project to fund the cost of
their own participation. To this end we would
need a deposit of £500 paid in January 2003, a
further £2,000 in June and a final £1,000 in September
2003 – a total cost of £3,500, which covers
all travel, food, accommodation, insurance and
visas. In return we are offering an amazing experience
and an opportunity to make a genuine contribution
in the struggle against the spread of AIDS in
Africa. If you would be interested in joining
us, or know of anyone else who might be, please
