Whitby is one of those places
that isn’t inundated with eating out diners but
what it has, is adequate enough. Amongst is handful
of eateries there is a nice blend of the nation’s
favourite foods and the convenient fast food places.
Amongst the restaurants and eateries in this town made famous by the legend of Dracula is Finley's a relaxed cafe bar with sofas, the specialities include gourmet sandwiches, pasta, nachos and fish cakes. It's a relatively reasonably priced place for what it offers. Another relative cheap eatery is the Grapevine, a funky place offering dinner only tapas style meals. Please note the Grapevine is closed on Sunday's and Monday's.
One of the leading restaurant's in the town is Green's a very relaxed but stylish establishment offering contemporary flavours.
No self-respecting coastal town can be without its traditional fish and chips restaurant, Whitby's Magpie Cafe has been serving fish and chips for over 40 years. Keep in mind there are long ques in the summer and they close at 9pm. Trenchers is another well known fish and chips restaurant, located close to the tourist office. The restaurant is closed during the winter months (Nov-Mar) and closes at 9pm when open.
If its views you want be sure to visit the North Beach Cafe, it has the best sea views in town from its roof terrace. In the summer they serve the summer grill (day and night). Downstairs there are sandwiches, light meals and a mediterranean style menu.
