| Southampton
The offering of outstanding restaurants
and cuisine is a relatively new concept for Southampton
but people are quickly realising the possibilities.
Being so close to the sea, fresh fish and seafood are
at their finest and this freshness is exploited by Langleys
Bistro. Fresh fish is a definite house speciality, complemented
by wonderful house wines and cocktails. Olive Tree Restaurant
also more than satisfies those with a taste for the
fruits of the sea. If a good bit of red meat is more
to your taste then a trip to The Rib Ranch. They specialise
in hickory smoked baby back ribs and they are confident
that you won’t find better anywhere else. How
better to finish off a meal than with their fine choice
of American beers. The Indian Gate is furnished throughout
with imported Indian art pieces, and décor is
a perfect accompaniment for the extensive menu. The
Compass Point Café sees wonderful Mediterranean
food served in a three hundred year old converted fisherman’s
cottage.
Britain.tv’s Choice of the Month:
The Wild Orchid
With prime position in the centre of Southampton, The
Wild Orchid sets the standard for all others to aim
for. The atmosphere is what first engages, as the hustle
and bustle of the centre is left behind once through
the entrance, when a feeling of relaxation settles comfortingly.
This restaurant attempts to bring the best out of simple
ingredients whether it be the catch of the day or locally
grown vegetables. They pride themselves on their variety
of vegetarian dishes and fresh, homemade pasta. They
have also taken the fashionable stance of offer dishes
for a diet dining experience. In all, the experience
of visiting the Wild Orchid is thoroughly enjoyable
and thoroughly recommended.
