Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough remains firmly English with regards to the restaurants available, however there are a couple of more exotic choices. The Massala and Khan Tandoori are both well respected for providing good Indian dishes at great prices as does the Jewel In The Crown. Cantonese and Chinese cuisine are served up lovingly at the Jade Garden and Shanghai City Restaurant. The city’s vicinity to the sea provides superb quality seafood for the likes of the East Ocean Seafood Restaurant. Families couldn’t fail to be impressed by the promotional offer at Fellini’s, as children eat free and receive dedicated friendly attention from staff. A mention must go to the Central Park restaurant, an eatery well known to all locals and always delivering great food for all tastes. The Purple Onion Brasserie and Whitaker's offer more traditional English fare, and should be experienced.

Britain.tv’s Choice of the Month: Bierrex

Bierrex represents a definite step forward with regards to fusion cuisine in the North East, as the feel and atmosphere of a traditional pub are partnered with the innovation of continental cuisine. Unusually for any restaurant, Bierrex opens its doors at 8am to offer a wonderful breakfast menu, from a full English to a breakfast of fresh croissants. But the draw of this particular restaurant is the freshness of all dishes as wherever possible the meals are homemade. One word of caution must be offered for though Bierrex is worthy of a visit at anytime, when Middlesbrough FC are playing, the place does tend to fill to the rafters with football fans.
