| Cambridge
This seat of learning has no real
reputation for being a hotbed of culinary talent, but
there are still some first-rate eateries to be found
in Cambridge. The city’s attraction as a tourist
destination means that there are a number of traditional
cafes and tea houses to satisfy foreign visitors. With
an eye on restaurants, Dojo is a firm favourite with
the student population as its food is very reasonably
priced (£5 for a main course) and portions are
robust to say the least. Though the price is no reflection
of quality and the food is succulent and tasty. Footlights
is a fresh, new Mexican restaurant with a vibrant décor
and atmosphere. Brown’s, perhaps the country’s
most upper class chain, offers the usual tremendously
appetizing menu with a special mention for the steaks.
Rainbow Vegetarian Bistro should satisfy the veggie
lover, with a wide ranging choice of vegetarian and
vegan dishes, with gluten and nut free options. Café
Uno is a must for those who love the bistro experience.

of the Month: Midsummer House
To be found nestled on the south
side of the river, Midsummer House is hard to miss and
is strikingly unique. The dining takes place in an extensive
and beautifully constructed conservatory, giving wonderful
views of the river flowing by. The fare is exquisite
and based on French and Mediterranean cooking styles.
No matter what season, the Midsummer House restaurant
is always popular so making a reservation in a must.
Such decadence doesn’t come cheap but the meal
will be remembered and talked of for years to come.
