| Birmingham
You hear Birmingham and you think
curry, balti to be exact. Also, that cannot be ignored;
Birmingham does have a lot more to offer. The Court
Café boasts excellent food and wine in the luxurious
setting of a large glass roofed atrium and is surrounded
by Romanesque pillars. Shogun Teppanyaki Japanese Restaurant
features specialist chefs who cook on a hotplate in
front of the customers, flipping and tossing food until
perfectly cooked. Sukiyaki, Teriyaki, Sushi and Tempura
styles are all catered for. La Toque d'Or offers traditional
French cuisine with some modern twists. But the Balti
Triangle must take centre stage as it boasts over thirty
different restaurants and its own independent guide.
The Adil restaurant must be mentioned as it is widely
regarded as the first Balti house in Birmingham and
therefore takes credit for starting the Balti revolution.
Lahore Karahi began the trend for buffet eating, and
remains a firm favourite with all Balti lovers. Jyoti
offers a solely vegetarian menu which has received rave
reviews since opening.
Britain.tv’s Choice of the Month:
Royal Naim
Twice awarded the title of Best
British Baltihouse, Royal Naim should be the first port
of call when heading out for a curry in Birmingham.
There is nothing about the menu which makes the Royal
Naim restaurant particularly different or unique, it
is just that the simple things are done so well. The
balance of spices in all dishes is perfect and accompaniments
such as naans are light and fluffy. You will no regrets
if you chose Royal Naim for your first balti experience
or if you’re a well versed curry lover.
