Alton doesn’t have a lengthy list of eating out places, in fact the entire eating out scene can roughly be summarized as follows: four Italian restaurants, two kebab shops, two Chinese take aways and three Indian restaurants. Take your pick. It does have a good atmosphere and prices are relatively cheap.
