The Holiday Season: A Time for Giving as Well as Receiving
‘Tis the season
to celebrate! As people start celebrating the holiday
season, friends and family gather, special holiday
foods color the table and the holiday spirit makes
this time of year especially warm and bright. The
holiday season is a time when people give and receive
gifts, but it is also important to take a moment and
remember those less fortunate. Giving back, whether
by donating money to a charity or offering time to
worthy causes, is the most important gift one can
give.
It is in that same spirit that Lenox, America’s
tabletop and giftware leader, developed its Holiday
Spirit Ornament program. In its seventh year, this
program donates the proceeds from one specially designed
ornament to a children’s charity. For the third
year in a row, the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS
Foundation will be the recipient of the company’s
generosity.
“Lenox has demonstrated
a belief in our mission and a desire and commitment
to touch the lives of children around the world. We
feel privileged to be the recipient of their generosity
and want to acknowledge that their humanity and kindness
will improve the health of children battling HIV/AIDS
and other life-threatening pediatric illnesses,”
says Kate Carr, president and chief executive officer
of the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.
The foundation creates a future
of hope for children and families worldwide by eradicating
pediatric AIDS, providing care and treatment for people
with HIV/AIDS, and accelerating the discovery of new
treatments for other serious and life-threatening
pediatric illnesses.
“Lenox believes that the
act of giving is an integral part of celebrating life
and family,” says Lou Scala, president and chief
merchandising officer at Lenox. “We are delighted
to continue the partnership with the Elizabeth Glaser
Pediatric AIDS Foundation, which celebrates life and
family by giving hope to so many.”
This year’s special ornament,
the Grinch Away with the Tree, features the beloved
Dr. Seuss character stuffing a Christmas tree in his
sack. This elegant decoration is sculpted of ivory
china with soft touches of hand-paint and 24-karat
gold accents.
