The British have always been
more than willing to make a fool of themselves when
it comes to raising money for charity - they do this
regularly. However, there is a certain day on which
the whole country goes mad and this is "Red Nose
Day".
This is the day when everybody gets together - stars,
celebrities, children, school teachers.........
They do all sorts of weird things and get paid, by
friends, for doing it or get paid not to do it - depending
on what they want to do.
+ Teachers go to school in school
uniforms.
+ Pupils pay a small amount so that they don't have
to wear their school uniform.
+ Children shut up for the whole day.
+ Red Nose Cakes are sold.
+ Talent Competitions are held.
+ People go around wearing pants over their trousers
or putting red nose pants on their heads.
Well, what is
"Red Nose Day?
It is the biggest TV fundraising event in the UK.
Everybody goes round wearing a red nose. These noses
used to be pretty boring, but as time goes by, they
have changed.
Red Nose day is organized by "Comic Relief. "Comic
Relief" was set up by comedians and uses comedy
and laughter to get serious messages across as well
as making sure that everybody can have some fun at
the same time.
"Red Nose day" takes place every two years
and has been going on since 1985. Just imagine: Over
220 million pounds have been raised for some of the
poorest and most vulnerable people across the UK and
Africa. A third of the money raised goes to projects
in the UK and two thirds to projects working in Africa.
