Care that liberates lives
Sue Ryder Care specialises in
providing neurological care and hospice care to people
with life shortening illnesses such as Multiple Sclerosis,
Motor Neurone Disease, Huntington’s Disease
and Cancer. Our 18 Care Centres offer long-term and
respite residential care, day care and home care services
to people across the country.
Neurological care
In the UK 5 million people are
affected directly or indirectly by neurological conditions
such as Multiple Sclerosis, Stroke, Cerebral Palsy,
Parkinson’s Disease, Motor Neurone Disease,
Huntington’s Disease and Acquired/Traumatic
Brain Injury (brain injuries sustained in road accidents
or caused by strokes or diabetic coma).
Many of the people affected
by these debilitating and life-shortening conditions
are in their 30s and 40s and may need our care for
10, 20 or even 30 years.
Sue Ryder Care has specialised
knowledge of caring for people with neurological conditions
and understand that their needs are not just physical,
but also emotional, social and spiritual.
At Sue Ryder Care, we care for
all of them.
Our hospice care supports people
with cancer and other life-shortening conditions in
loving and supportive surroundings. We aim to meet
the physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs
of our patients, provide pain relief, and provide
long-term bereavement counselling to family and friends.
We also offer a range of therapies
including physiotherapy, massage and aromatherapy.
Last year Sue Ryder Care:
• made
20,000 home care visits in the UK
• welcomed
13,000 patients to our day care centres
• cared
for 3,300 people in our 18 Care Centres
• people’s
"wellness" rather than their illness
• people’s
abilities rather than their disabilities
• supporting
the family, carers and friends of our patients
Every year we need to raise
at least £13 million to ensure we are able to
continue to deliver outstanding levels of care to
those who depend on us for their well-being.
With your help we can continue
to provide care that liberates lives.
