John Christopher Depp III was born June 9, 1963, in Owensboro, Kentucky. From a young age Depp was never academically motivated and spent most of his teen years touring with his rock band – which eventually split up. He had a short lived marriage to makeup artist Lori Allison; she introduced him to Nicholas Cage who then helped him to get a role in the 1984 horror film ‘Nightmare on Elm Street’.

He went on to have a number of relatively small roles in films whilst being featured in every teen magazine going. Depp proved himself further in the 1990 offbeat film ‘Edward Scissorhands’. Other films included ‘Benny & June’, ‘Ed Wood’ and ‘What’s eating Gilbert Grape’. Amongst his many and varied love interests were Winona Ryder and Kate Moss.
