Anna Kournikova
Anna Kournikova
was born on June 7th 1981 in Moscow, Russia. From
the age of 5 she showed a keen interest in tennis
and was coached to fulfil her ambitions. She got
noticed by the Spartak Tennis Club and began being
trained by professionals. At 9 Anna was noticed
by the international tennis community when she
competed in the ATP tour in Moscow. At 14, she
become the youngest player ever to win a Fed Cup
match and was ranked as the number 1 Junior.
Since then she has won a doubles title with Martina
Hingis at the '99 Australian Open and is the only
player in the past 15 years to have defeated four
consecutive top ten players in a single tournament
– in 1998. She is one of the most heavily
marketed and sponsored female athletes and adored
by men worldwide.
