The Wonders of Britain
If someone asked how many of the world’s seven wonders you had personally visited how many would you say? If you answered any more than one you would be lying, because only one of the original architectural feats - the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt - is still in existence. And this is the problem one man has spent seven years trying to solve – by calling on the global population to nominate seven new wonders travellers can still see, feel, touch and experience today.
In true iconic style, the modern-day list – which is based on the votes of 50 million people - will be revealed on July 7, 2007, and is expected to include some of the most stunning sights on earth. It is the brainchild of Swiss entrepreneur Bernard Weber, who set up the New 7 Wonders Foundation to raise funds for restoration project and publicise global awareness of heritage sites.
With only 16 days left to vote, the contenders have been whittled down to a shortlist of just 12. So what are the chances of anything in good old Blighty getting in on the action?

Liverpool in a Pint - Cains Brewery
 |
| Cains Brewery |
Being at University in
a thriving ‘student-friendly’ city means that it is never difficult to
get hold of a pint or two, but people probably rarely think about what
is put into making the drink, and what it actually consists of.

Having had £75 million
invested to reconstruct the building, November of 2002 saw the opening
of Newcastle’s finest heart of entertainment, leisure and relaxation.
The seven storey ‘Newgate House’, home to the Mayfair Club, was
transformed in just three years and is now home to ten bars, ten
restaurants, a casino and a cinema.

You would think that
displaying information about the world would be a rather difficult task
with so much to cover; yet Liverpool’s World Museum has it down to a
fine art. With five floors, each exhibiting a different theme, the
facts are crammed in, making it a huge learning experience, yet also
made enjoyable.

Babyshambles review
‘There are few more
distressing sights than that of an Englishman in a baseball cap.’
Judging by tonight’s crowd a lot of the people here haven’t heard
Doherty’s famous line, as chavs clamped in hooligan attire are here in
their droves. The terrace style chants of ‘Yorkshire’ and ‘Pete, Pete,
Pete’ in between every song confirm my narrow minded, judgemental
insights.

Klaxons Review - Leeds
The New Rave revolution continues in
Leeds tonight with ‘The NME new rave tour’, starring Data Rock, Shit
Disco and Britain’s most exciting new band Klaxons. The bands all dress
like they got their clothes from ‘Toys R’ Us’, and their fans look like
they got theirs from a radioactive ‘Toyworld’.

A REVIEW OF THE BLUE ANGEL, SEEL STREET, LIVERPOOL
On an unlit corner of
Liverpool lives an old and neglected building. In this old neglected
building is an old man’s style pub. Underneath this old man’s style pub
is a dark and dingy club. And this dark and dingy club is known as the
Blue Angel or to those frequented with its sordid interior - The Raz.
